"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
As Christians, we believe that we are stewards of God's resources. He is the owner of all that we have. Throughout scripture, we are reminded of the importance of giving back a portion of what God has so generously provided. His Word tells us that giving is an act of worship that should be done with a spirit of thanksgiving.
"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it. the world and all its people belong to him. for he laid the earth's foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths." Psalm 24:1
As we honor God with our tithe(s) and offerings, we are personally blessed by God, the church is made financially sound, and people are helped around the world. We are a church that desires to live with a Spirit of love and generosity, as Christ modeled.
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Malachi 3:10
Giving First (Tithe)
Along with many other passages we read in Malachi where God instructs His people to give Him the first 10%, "first fruits", of all He gives them. Not because He needs it, but because our hearts need to give it. What we do with what we have directs our hearts and defines our worship. Jesus says in Matthew 6:21 "Where you treasure is, there your heart will be also". Giving to God reminds us that He has given us everything, and can be counted on to meet every need we will ever have.
GIVING BEYOND (OFFERINGS)
The reality of our western culture is that most of us have more than we truly need. Beyond giving our tithe to the local church, God asks us to stretch ourselves by sacrificing to meet needs. If you feel directed to give in addition to your regular tithe, you can support any of the following Board Approved Funds by designating online, on the giving envelope, or on your check.
MISSIONS FUND - Supporting our missionaries throughout the world with funds for education, church planting, orphan ministries, and feeding and medical programs.
COMPASSION FUND - Assisting those in our church family and immediate community with crisis or financial needs.
MORTGAGE RETIREMENT - Paying down the existing Maltby and Monroe campus mortgages to free up funds for other ministry purposes.
